What is overload costing your team this year?
Fill in two numbers. The calculation uses averages from Dutch absence and turnover research.
Fill in your team size and average salary to see the calculation.
How is this calculated?
- Total employment costs: gross annual salary times 1.27 for employer charges (contributions, pension, insurance).
- Distribution by load: on average 30 percent of employees are in balance, 36 percent under elevated pressure, 25 percent in chronic overload and 9 percent in functional burnout.
- Productivity loss: 15 percent under chronic overload, 30 percent in functional burnout, calculated over the employment costs of that group.
- Long-term absence: 3 percent chance per employee per year, costing 100 percent of employment costs (roughly 9 months of absence including replacement).
- Turnover: 5, 10 and 20 percent additional risk of leaving per load level, with replacement costs of 75 percent of employment costs.
- Not included: quality loss, missed revenue, management time and extra pressure on the rest of the team. In practice the costs are higher.
- All amounts are calculated over 12 months and are an indication, not a calculation for your situation.
